Baked Bosc Pears on the Half Shell
Halved Bosc pears filled with raisins, dates, or mincemeat and baked with brown sugar and cinnamon make for a tasty, healthy dessert.
Ingredients

Pears
- 3 fresh Bosc USA Pears
- ½ cup water
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Raisin Filling
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 2 tablespoons chopped nuts

Date Filling
- 1/3 cup chopped dates
- 2 tablespoons chopped nuts
- ½ teaspoon grated orange peel

Mincemeat Filling
- ½ cup prepared mincemeat
- 1 tablespoon rum or brandy
Directions
- Halve and core pears. Combine ingredients for desired filling and fill centers. Combine remaining ingredients; bring to boil and pour over pears. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until tender; baste frequently with syrup.
