As a Registered Dietitian with a degree in English, I love writing about the exciting world of food and nutrition. I developed an early passion for writing and earned a degree in English at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After working as a writer for several years in Chicago, I eventually realized that the heart of my literary passion lay in translating nutritional science into practical daily solutions. I moved to Colorado to study food science and human nutrition, and was awarded a Master of Science degree from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. I completed the coordinated internship program at Colorado State, and have worked as both a clinical and public health dietitian. My expertise includes nutritional science, public health, developing a healthy lifestyle, and food science, and I am the acting Newsletter Chair for the Denver Dietetic Association. Although I would like to spend all of my time writing about food and nutrition, I also consult for a national nutrition program that provides supplemental food and education to needy women and children. Teaching others how to lead healthy, fulfilling lives is my goal and passion, and I hope that everyone who visits this site will find something that lingers long after the browser closes.
When I’m not hard at work, I might be in the kitchen modifying a new recipe or dessert with pears. Or perhaps I’m out hiking through one of Colorado’s beautiful mountain parks. But if you can’t find me anywhere, I just might be on a plane going somewhere new and exciting, experiencing unique and diverse cultures and cuisines!
